MINISTER USES FACEBOOK TO GET FEEDBACK, VIEWS ON TRAFFIC CONGESTION
KUCHING (Malaysia), Dec 7 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak (an East Malaysia state)
Housing and Urban Development Ministry hope to overcome traffic congestion in
the state's major towns within the next four years.
Its minister Abang Johari Tun Openg said based on feedback from the
public, the main towns facing traffic congestion were Kuching and Miri.
"We will focus on overcoming such problems and finding long term solutions
in main towns," he told reporters after opening a seminar here Sunday.
Without going into actual details, Abang Johari said all input, feedback,
views and ideas from the Facebook would be taken into consideration.
The Facebook is now an important mechanism to receive feedback from the
people with problems.
"I will go into the Facebook every night to look at the views and feedback
received," he said.
Abang Johari and deputy president of PBB
urged women who are part of Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs), Youth
orgnanisations and political organizations to open Facebooks as a means of
getting closer to the younger generation as well as receive feedback on issues.
"For example, I was informed through the Facebook, that Jalan Semariang and
Jalan Matang in Kuching, encounter serious traffic congestion as early as 6am
and I have also received similar feedback from Miri," he said.
Abang Johari who added that he himself had seen the traffic congestion in
the respective areas, said efforts were being taken to overcome the traffic
situation in the areas.
