CHILDLESS WIFE KIDNAPS SIX BABIES TO PLEASE HUBBY, IN-LAWS

NEW DELHI, Dec 8 (Bernama) -- A forlorn childless woman went on a kidnapping spree in the city, stealing baby boys to please her husband and in-laws, until police ended the wicked terror reign with her arrest last Sunday.

By then, the 26-year-old woman had snatched six newborn babies and at least
one child was found dead, believed dumped by the suspect on a roadside.

The Asian Age reported that police had recovered two of the abducted babies
and the cases of missing children in the area were solved following her arrest.

According to police, the suspect resorted to the crime as she
could not deal with her family abuses of being a barren woman and even a
medical treatment failed to help her to conceive.

A college dropout, her modus operandi was to target the poorer communities
around Delhi, with her 38-year-old accomplice, a rickshaw-puller.


She would prey on families with babies on the pretext of selling artificial
jewellery and slip away while the parents were unaware. She would abandon
sickly babies but kept the healthy ones, reported the paper.

During police interrogation, the suspect admitted to her crimes and tried to
justify that she did it to please her husband.

She was arrested in the neighbourhood after police mounted a search with the
description given by the babies' parents.

The couple were married for almost fours years but the suspect had been
staying separately with her sister, reported Asian Age.
