China limits import of Russia's steel to its market.
10/12 Tass 107
BEIJING, December 10 (Itar-Tass) -- China introduces limiting measures
with regard to import of electrotechnical steel from Russia. A
corresponding decision, as the news agency Xinhua reports, was taken by
the Chinese Ministry of Trade on the results of the investigation started
in June this year.
The statement of the Ministry of Trade says that Russian steel
companies "used dumping to penetrate into the Chinese market, which caused
damage to local producers." In this connection, the Chinese side begins to
introduce customs duties as of December 11, the amount of which will
depend on a "dumping difference of this or that Russian producer."
According to the Ministry of Trade, earlier, the dumping difference of
Russian companies amounted to 4.6-25 percent.
The Chinese side stresses that this decision "meets corresponding WTO
rules and laws of China in full." Simultaneously, such measures were
undertaken with regard to import of electrotechnical steel from the United
States.
