ASEAN AGREES TO ENHANCE LIBERALISATION OF AIR SERVICES
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 12 (Bernama) -- Asean transport ministers have agreed to
enhance the liberalisation of air services among member nations, said Transport
Minister Ong Tee Keat.
"Malaysia has signed a joint memorandum in the area of services related to
air transport.
"On the whole, given that we are very open, definitely this will a tough
test on our ability to compete, especially for those in the logistics industry
to be ready to face competition," he said at a news conference after the
Masterskill University College's 1Masterskill Unity Programme to celebrate the
nations's unity in diversity here Friday.
Ong had attended the 15th Asean Transport Ministers Meeting (ATM) in Hanoi
on Thursday.
He said Malaysia is a strong proponent of liberalised air services within
Asean by having 13 destinations.
