Turkmenistan intensifies participation in CIS affairs.

ASHGABAT, June 6 (Itar-Tass) -- Turkmenistan is intensifying its participation in CIS affairs as a CIS associated member, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov said on the eve of an informal CIS summit, which will be held in Petersburg on Friday. He stated about Turkmenistan's plans "to initiate projects of fruitful partnership with due account of mutual interests and demands of the present times in bilateral and multilateral formats." The participation of the Turkmen president in the informal CIS summit "demonstrates once more the consistent foreign political course for the constructive international cooperation, particularly within the CIS as the most effective instrument of the interstate cooperation between the former Soviet republics," the Turkmen presidential press service reported.
