UAE INKS AIR SERVICES MOU WITH SRI LANKA

BY MUIN ABDUL MAJID

DUBAI, Dec 14 (Bernama) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed a
memorandum of understanding (MoU) recently with Sri Lanka to increase flights
between the two countries.

Under the MoU signed in Colombo, both parties agreed to increase weekly
flight frequencies for UAE-designated airlines comprising Emirates Airline,
Etihad Airways and Air Arabia.

They also agreed to include low-cost carrier, FlyDubai, to the list.

UAE's General Civil Aviation said the Sri Lankan government was currently
evaluating a proposal, presented by the UAE delegation, of a completely
liberal bilateral framework.

The scheme aims to provide significant opportunities for tourism and
trade consistent with the policy goals of the Sri Lankan government.
