TWO FISHING BOATS SINK, TWO FISHERMEN DROWN

Pasuruan, East Java, June 6 (ANTARA) - Two fishing boats from Ngemplakrejo, Purworejo, Pasuruan, East Java, sank in the Madura Strait on Wednesday evening killing two fishermen while 44 others survived. The two ill-fated boats were the "Muncul Jaya" with 27 fishermen on board and "Sandang" with 19 fishermen on board, Tumian, one of the surviving fishermen, said here on Thursday. The Muncul Jaya sank after being hit by huge waves reaching a height of up to three meters, but all of its crew were able to save themselves.Later in the evening, the Sandang fishing also sank after a leak had developed in its rear. Two fishermen drowned and 17 others survived.
