OMNOGOBI PROVINCE SUFFERS FROM SWINE FLU

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/ As of 01.00am of the 15th of December 2009, 102 children critically suffered from influenza and respiratory tract infection in Bulgan soum, Omnogobi province, the National Emergency Management Agency reports.
The agency said 28 children have recovered so far, and 74 children have been receiving intensive treatment in hospital. According to the emergency agency, 21 children infected with swine flu virus in Bulgan soum. “One of them, a 11-year old teen is now in critical condition.”
Governor of Bulgan soum made an order to shift into a heightened state of preparedness. A quarantine was also put in the soum according to the order. A joint working group of health and emergency departments of the province has been working in the incident.
In addition, 23 children of Bayan-Ovoo soum, Omnogobi province have been infected with influenza and respiratory tract infection. Out of them, 10 are suspected to be suffering from swine flu virus.
A government working group headed by Deputy Premier M.Enkhbold held a meeting December 15 and made a decision to immediately send a team of professional doctors to Bulgan and Bayan-Ovoo soums with medicines, vaccines and medical facilities needed.
As of 10:00 a.m. of 15th of December, 2009, a total of 1,164 people infected with swine flu virus in Mongolia. The death toll reached 27 people.
