Kazakh expatriates participate in Leader of 21st Century programme

Almaty, December 16, 2009 (Khabar) - The leader of the 21st century mastermind contest devoted to Independence Day featured Kazakh expatriates from France, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Mongolia, China and Uzbekistan. All of them grew up far from their historical homeland but they were always dreaming of visiting Kazakhstan. Tolga Turk-Oz was raised in France and graduated from University there. However, he confessed he was always eager to visit his historic homeland. His parents would always tell him that they wanted to go to the homeland of their predecessors and see what independent Kazakhstan looks like.

Tolga Turk-Oz, participant in “Leader of 21st century” programme:
- It was not a difficult contest because I have been learning the history of Kazakhstan for a long time. During preparations, I learnt those wonderful works by Shokan Valikhanov and Shakarim.

A total of 6 contestants were competing for the Leader of the 21st century title. All of them took a special preparation course ahead of the game some questions were about Kazakhstan’s history, literature and economy.

Zhanar Adambayeva, producer of “Leader of 21st century” project:
- For them, the programme itself is more than a mastermind competition. It was interaction with the audience who learnt more about contestants and the former who learnt more about Kazakhstan. The contestants had a chance of looking deeper into the history of the nation, its language, literature, customs and traditions. They confessed it was a wonderful lesson for them.

The game was very difficult and two cleverest participants fought at the end. The name of the winner you will be able to find out on December 16, at 4 30 p.m. at “Yel Arna” TV channel.
