RUSSIA TO CONTINUE SEARCH FOR WAYS TO SAVE RESOURCES - MEDVEDEV

ST.PETERSBURG, June 8 (Itar-Tass) - Russia will continue fundamental research in finding ways to save resources and increase its energy efficiency on the basis of breakthrough solutions aimed at a long-term perspective, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Saturday. "Over the past few years Russia has noticeably strengthened its positions in the global energy market. Our country invests not only in increasing the production and exports of energy resources but also in developing energy infrastructure," Medvedev emphasized as he was speaking at the presentation of the Global Energy award. "Fundamental research in this field remains vital for us. The talk is about developing resource-saving technologies and raising energy efficiency of production processes. And it's certainly science that can expand the borders of our knowledge of new and renewable sources of energy," Medvedev went on to say. "We are convinced that attention to revolutionary scientific technologies is a serious step towards ensuring reliable supply of energy resources to all mankind and eventually towards improving the quality of life of the present and future generations," Medvedev said.
