MALAYSIA PREPARES FOR IODA WORLD 2010

LANGKAWI (Malaysia), Dec 21 (Bernama) -- Having successfully organised the
International Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA) Asian champion which ended here
Saturday, the Malaysian Yachting Association is looking forward to hosting a
bigger event,
the IODA World Championship 2010.

Its deputy president, Lukman Abu Bakar, said the event would be held from
Dec 27, 2010 to Jan 7, 2011.

Langkawi would also be the venue for the world event, he told Bernama
Sunday.

He said 600 sailors from 60 countries were expected to participate in the
event next year.

Meanwhile, 121 sailors from 25 countries, including New Zealand, Australia,
France, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Belgium, Qatar,
Spain, Croatia, Japan, Italy, Japan and Singapore participated in the IODA Asia
championship.
