Mohammed bin Zayed receives Panama's President

Abu Dhabi, June 9, 2008 (WAM) - General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces received yesterday President Martin Torrijos of Panama, who is currently visiting the country. Sheikh Mohammed welcomed President Torrijos and wished him success in his visit. They discussed ways to boost bilateral relations and cooperation in all fields, particularly in economy, tourism, culture and trade. They also reviewed current regional and international developments, as well as issues of mutual interest. President Torrijos praised the progress attained by the UAE, which he described as a model for development, growth and openness. He also expressed his country's desire to expand cooperation with the UAE in all spheres. Sheikh Mohammed also received Kunihiko Matsuo, Chairman of the Japan Oil development company (JODCO) and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed was briefed on JODCO's current operations and joint ventures with UAE companies in the fields of gas, petrochemicals and energy. Sheikh Mohammed lauded the strong ties of friendship between the UAE and Japan and welcomed joint ventures and investments between the two countries. He said the UAE was keen to intensify its commercial and economiccooperation with Japan in a way that will serve the interests of the two countries. - end.
