Yemen sentences journalist to six years

SANA'A, June 10 (Saba) - The State Security Court has sentenced editor-in-chief of the blocked al-Shora.net Abdul Karim al-Khaiwani to six years in prison on charges linked to organizing rebellion against the government and other related charges. Al-Khaiwani was allegedly convicted of distributing publications that called for the solidarity with the Houthi rebels in the northern province of Saada. In the wake of the court ruling, the security forces detained al-Khaiwani to be sent to the Central Prison in Sana'a. Al-Khaiwani may appeal for the ruling, however, the Yemeni Journalist Syndicate will hold a meeting on the ruling.
