‘Iran to push ahead with its N. program based on intl. law’

TEHRAN, Dec. 28 (MNA) – Iran will push ahead with its nuclear activities based on the country’s national interests and international law, senior MP Alaeddin Boroujerdi insisted on Monday.

“Iran’s nuclear activities are (conducted) based on the IAEA regulations and the NPT (and) therefore Iran’s stance on the nuclear (fuel) swap or any other proposals” fall within these categories, Boroujerdi, chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, told reporters.

He said it will not “benefit” those countries who are threatening Iran with more sanctions.

Boroujerdi also called the Western-backed UN resolutions against Iran politically motivated.

He went on to say that Iran’s nuclear case should not have been transferred from the International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors to the UN Security Council.

Thus, all measures taken against Iran as well as the recent ultimatum issued by the West and the U.S., which requires Iran to respond to the proposed nuclear fuel swap until the end of the year, fall out of international law, he added.
