Russia may be left without reserve fund if oil prices are low.
MOSCOW, December 29 (Itar-Tass) - Russian Finance Minister Alexey
Kudrin has said that Russia may completely spend its reserve fund in 2010
if oil prices keep falling.
In an interview with the Vesti news channel on Monday Kudrin said that
if the oil prices remained at a level of $70 per barrel, Russia would have
to spend these petrodollars.
"If prices go higher than that level we will start accumulating the
petrodollars. Despite the fact that we've been planning to spend the
entire reserve fund next year, we might not spend the whole of it.
Something may still be left," Kudrin said.
"According to our assessments, we'll have to spend the reserve fund if
prices stay at $70 per barrel," the Russian finance minister said.
