Tehran's Esteghlal overpowers Al Wasl in friendly
DUBAI, Dec. 29 (MNA) -- Emirati Al Wasl football team was heavily defeated by Iranian Esteghlal in a friendly in Dubai on Monday.
The testimonial match of retired Ismail Rashid ended with a 5-1 victory for the visitors.
Douglas dos Santos put Al Wasl in the lead just five minutes into the match. Esteghlal captain Farhad Majidi leveled the match in the 7th minute. Mehdi Seyedsalehi scored Esteghlal’s second goal with five minutes remaining until halftime.
Hanif Omranzadeh opened Al Wasl’s goal for the third time in the 59th minute. Majidi was brought down in the Al Wasl box and consequently scored from the penalty spot in the 63rd minute.
Substitute Mojtaba Mahboob rubbed salt on the Al Wasl’s wounds in the last minutes and wrapped up a 5-1 win for Esteghlal.
