Court in Kamchatka issues sentence to stealers of fuel from depots.



PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, December 30 (Itar-Tass) - A court in
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the administrative center of the Kamchatka
territory has issued a sentence to a group of residents of the city who
engaged in stealing fuels and lubricants from local military depots over a
period of two years.

Suspended sentences were issued to two of the malefactors and another
five malefactors were sentenced for jail terms of three to six years, a
spokesman for the Kamchatka territorial court said Wednesday.
The court established that four servicemen, including two who were
responsible for materiel, stole gasoline and diesel fuel fro the depots of
several military bases in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in the period of 2006
through 2008.
The stolen oil products were then smuggled outside the bases' grounds
and sold to third parties. The damage the criminals inflicted on the
budget exceeded 15 million rubles /USD 1=RUB 30.0 at the current exchange
rate/.
