Relocation of heavy-duty construction machines begins in Russia's Far

VLADIVOSTOK, December 30 (Itar-Tass) - Relocation of heavy-duty
construction vehicles to the construction sites in Vladivostok, which will
host a summit of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in 2012, has
begun in the Far-Eastern insular region of Sakhalin.

Wednesday, the Pervomai motor ship left Sakhalin's port of Korsakov
with five excavators aboard.
This is the second batch of excavators that the Sakhalin-based
construction companies send to their fellow-builders in Vladivostok by way
of assistance to the APEC facilities construction project that is destined
to change the face of Russia's largest Far-Eastern city dramatically.
The Pervomai's captain Igor Yankovsky said that in spite of stormy
weather in the Sea of Japan the ship is expected to cross the 560 nautical
miles /slightly more than a thousand kilometers/ between Korsakov and
Vladivostok in just two days.
However, the unloading in Vladivostok will not be fast, as the seaport
is in the grips of a wind blowing at around 20 meters per second.
A weather situation like this rules out any operations with cargoes.
