INDONESIAN ECONOMY STILL PERFORMING WELL
Jakarta, June 10 (ANTARA) - Despite a persistent steep rise in global crude oil and food prices, the Indonesian economy is still performing better than the rest of the world, an economist said.
"The Indonesian government can actually manage the good condition by means of financial policies. When it comes to Indonesia, I think it is not bad because its exports still continue and domestic consumption is still good," MISI Global President Michael Ivanovich said in a seminar on Outlook for Indonesian Economy here on Tuesday.
The surge in global crude oil and food prices had raised inflation, leading to a drop in people's purchasing power, he said.
Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) Guntur Pasaribu meanwhile said the stock exchange's index is moving in a stable direction. "Although it fluctuates it is still within a reasonable range."
He added the Indonesian condition is still good. "In Indonesia there is nothing to worry about"
