Iran's rallies sent the message that political conflicts must end

TAIBAD, Iran, Dec. 31 (MNA) – Majlis speaker Ali Larijani said on Thursday that massive rallies across Iran on Wednesday sent many messages, mainly that “political disputes” must come to an end in the country.


“The nation had another message and that was that political disputes are enough,” Larijani told a group of people in Taibad, a city in the northeastern Razavi Khorassan Province.


The rallies also carried the message that influential political figures must not make statements that create a situation in the country that some persons find the opportunity to do sacrilegious acts on the day of Ashura.


“Therefore, such persons must care about their statements and behaviors.”


The speaker also praised people for their massive allies, saying the rallies gave new spirit to the Islamic Revolution and ended plots against the country.


“The presence of people (in rallies) disappointed the enemy and changed the situation.”


The nation will not allow their country to be manipulated by certain persons who are in contact with foreigners, he explained.


He also hit out at U.S. President Barack Obama who had praised violent protests in Tehran on Sunday.


The rallies proved that the Iranian nation is ready to pay any price for its independence, the top lawmaker noted.


Hundreds of thousands of people took the streets in Tehran on Wednesday to protest over the violent acts by rioters on the day of Ashura which led to clashes between police and protestors and the death of seven people.


Similar rallies were held across the country on Tuesday.
