Iran's Ayatollah calls for national unity
QOM, Iran, Jan. 2 (MNA) — Grand Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi Amoli has called for national and religious unity in the face of challenges as the only way to preserve the values of the Islamic Revolution.
Addressing seminary school students and clerics on Thursday, Ayatollah Javadi Amoli urged critics to distance themselves from those who have shown disrespect for Islamic sanctities on the Ashura day.
“Events of the Ahura day left a bitter mark in the memory of Muslims and I pray to God Almighty to punish those who disrespected Ashura day rituals,” he noted.
Ashura is the tenth day of the lunar month of Muharram and the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his 72 companions.
