President Medvedev grieves over terrorist acts in Pakistan.
2/1 Tass 39
MOSCOW, January 2, (Itar-Tass) - President Dmitry Medvedev expressed
condolences to President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari in connection with
terrorist acts staged in a number of Pakistani cities.
"I deeply grieve to hear the news about new crimes committed by
extremists -a major terrorist act staged during a volleyball tournament in
the city of Lucky Marvat and the prior atrocities committed in the cities
of Karachi, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Muzaffarabad that entailed many
deaths and injuries of innocent people.
"Russia is indignant at these terrorist acts that have one bloody
thing in common- infinite cruelty, neglect of human lives sacrificed
because of their mercenary goals. I am confident that Pakistan will give
proper rebuff to the destructive forces in Pakistan and frustrate their
attempts to hinder stabilisation in the country. I have no doubt that a
merciless struggle against terrorists will continue", Medvedev said.
The Russian president called on all interested countries to pool
efforts and join in a united front in the struggle against the global
terrorist threat. Pakistan can count on Russia's support and the support
of the entire world community in this struggle, Medvedev said.
"I ask you, Mr. President, to express my sincere condolences and
compassion to families of the killed victims and give my best wishes of
recovery to all those injured," the Kremlin press service quoted the
Russian president as saying.
