Mojtahedzadeh: Europe not to help Bush exert more pressure on Iran
Tehran, June 11, IRNA - Iranian Head of the London-based Urosevic Research Foundation Pirouz Mojtahedzadeh said on Tuesday that the US president will not succeed in persuading Europeans to help him exert more pressure on Iran.
Mojtahedzadeh made the remark in an interview with IRNA, adding that
the US president is to create an spirit of cooperation between the
White House and its European allies to impose more sanctions on Iran, but all political observers know that after Toni Blair, former UK prime minister, the European Union does not follow American policies.
George Bush pays his last visit to Europe at the end of his presidency to hold talks on three important axes of exerting more pressures on Iran, helping Afghanistan mission, and dealing with air pollution.
Europe tries to play a constructive role in international arenas,
Mojtahedzadeh said, adding that even some international observers
called on the European Union to increase its role in the issue
concerning Iran.
The academic also maintained that although the international community agreed to ratify the US-backed resolution in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), but it informed Bush and the US that the resolution was ratified with an aim of avoiding use of force against Iran.
The international community is keen to resolve Iran's nuclear case
through peaceful ways and calls on Europe to play a constructive role in this respect without resorting to any hue and cry.
Bush calls for implementation of his preconditions on Iran's nuclear
program, but all sides involved in the discussion are aware hat
meeting such demands will not bear fruits for any side, he noted.
Mojtahedzadeh further noted that according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Mohamed ElBaradei, all sides should try to find a rational solution.
Pointing to the fact that Europe is in dire need of energy resources,
he said that Russia cut export of fuel to the green continent in
winter, thus, they face challenges in meeting their energy needs.
The expert on international affairs also said that given the current
developments, Bush's boring and repetitious words in Estonia will not affect Europeans in dealing with Iran.
