Most popular New Year works of Sazgen Sazy ensemble

Almaty, January 05, 2010 (Khabar) - Kazakh national musical instruments are universal, since on such instruments as the saz syrnai, shankobyz, dombra and zhetygen it is possible to play kyuis by Kurmangazy, Tattimbet and Sugur as well as globally popular and classical music. The Sazgen Sazy folk and ethnic ensemble was founded 29 years ago as part of the republican museum of national musical instruments and its staff were the first musicians. Later on, they were changed for professionals. Currently, the band is performing both national works and those by modern composers including the Beatles and James Last. Elmira Kashkynbayeva said that the Happy New Year song by ABBA, which was very popular 30 years ago and sounds different when played on Kazakh national instruments. She playa a saz syrnai, an instrument which is made of clay.

- Adyrna is very tender instrument like an harp. We can play interesting elements with adyrna.

The Sazgen Sazy ensemble is very popular both in Kazakhstan and abroad. They have preformed in such countries as Switzerland, the USA, Germany, Japan and Greece, where they acquainted the audience with such hits as Bessame Mucho and O Sole Mio.
