Exhibition of characters from Beijing opera

Ust-Kamenogorsk, January 05, 2010 (Khabar) - Ust-Kamenogorsk is welcoming characters from the Beijing opera. The exposition has already visited 30 countries of the world and after viewing it, many people dream of seeing the Chinese opera, which is considered to be the national heritage of China. Although this kind of art is now 200 years old, it has never changed. The performance lasts for 4 hours and almost the same amount of time is spent by the actors in make-up. During the performance, the actors sing, fight with swords, perform different acrobatic feats and pantomime and this is why the Beijing opera can be referred to as a circus, a dance-floor and a stadium. The opera combines opposite genres and its dolls reflect the exotic nature of a true performance.

- It’s amazing how detailed the performance was. It isn’t just about dolls but small wax figures. Now I am dreaming of visiting the opera.

The Chinese government organized this exhibition for the popularization of the country’s national art and soon the exhibits will be replenished with a statuette of Jackie Chan, who was a student of the Chinese opera but was not a very good one.
