Experts to forecast grain prices at conference in Altai territory.
BARNAUL, January 5 (Itar-Tass) -- Experts will forecast the grain
prices in 2010 at the major "Winter Grain Conference" beyond the Ural
Mountains to be held at the Altai highland resort of Belokurikha on
February 11-13, the forum organizers told Itar-Tass on Monday.
The
conference traditionally brings together several dozens of major Russian
grain mills.
The conference will be held in the Altai Territory for the third year
in a row and is already unofficially named "the Grain Davos". "Speaking on
the prospects of a new harvesting season in the previous year, experts
noted a high grain harvest in Russia. They named a probable wheat price at
about 170 dollars per tonne. This was it. Finally, the grain mills, which
took the forecasts into account, were not hasty to buy grain, and the
grain producers did not hope for further price growth, selling the grain
proceeding from the current market situation," director general of the
SovEcon center Anton Sizov said.
The authorities of the Altai Territory, the SovEcon center, the Union
of Altai Grain Mills and the Altai Fair Company organized the conference.
.Iran president to Turkmenistan to commission gas pipeline.
ASHGABAT, January 5 (Itar-Tass) -- Iranian President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad will arrive in Turkmenistan on Tuesday to attend a
commissioning ceremony of a Turkmen-Iranian gas pipeline.
High on the agenda of the summit will the development of
trade-economic cooperation between the countries, primarily in the fuel
and energy sector, the Turkmen presidential press service reported. Upon
results of the Ashgabat summit a package of documents will be signed to
intensify the bilateral cooperation. On Wednesday, the presidents of the
two neighboring countries, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Gurbanguly
Berdymukhamedov, will go to the gas field Dovletabad, where they will
attend a commissioning ceremony of the Dovletabad-Sarakhs-Hangeran gas
pipeline.
"The second gas pipeline in Iran is one more success in implementing
the state energy strategy seeking to increase Turkmen oil export
supplies," the Turkmen president said at a government meeting on Monday.
"The development of fruitful cooperation between the neighboring countries
is among the priorities of the country's foreign political strategy,"
Berdymukhamedov said. He expressed confidence that "the Turkmen-Iranian
negotiations in Ashgabat will give new incentives to intensify the
effective interstate partnership on the whole scope of issues."
The new gas pipeline will allow Ashgabat to increase fuel supplies in
Iran from eight to 20 billion cubic meters annually, the Turkmen Foreign
Ministry reported. The presidents of the countries commissioned the first
Turkmen-Iranian 200-kilometer-long gas pipeline Korpeje-Kurt Kui in
December 1997. The throughput capacity of the gas pipeline makes eight
billion cubic meters annually. The gas deposits in western Turkmenistan
are the raw material base.
The second gas pipeline will stretch at 30.5 kilometers with the
annual design capacity of 12.5 billion cubic meters. The gas pipeline was
built due to the Turkmen-Russian dragged gas conflict in 2009, when over
the blast on the gas pipeline and non-coordinated price and gas volumes
the gas supplies to Russia have been halted from April to December.
Ashgabat and Tehran reached an agreement in July 2009 to build a new
border gas pipeline to Dovletabad, which had served as the raw material
base for gas supplies to Russia before.
"The Dovletabad-Sarakhs-Hangeran gas pipeline project was the logical
continuation of Turkmenistan's consistent policy for diversification of
its gas transportation infrastructure," the press service of the Turkmen
Foreign Ministry said. In the middle of December 2009 the presidents of
the four countries commissioned the trans-Asian gas pipeline
Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China with the design capacity of 60
billion cubic meters, including 40 billion cubic meters falling on Turkmen
gas supplies. In 2010 the Turkmen gas export to China will amount to six
billion cubic meters. The total export to Iran along both gas pipelines is
planned at 12 billion cubic meters this year.
Russia remains the major consumer of Turkmen gas supplies in 2010.
