CHAGALL COMES TO ISTANBUL WITH "LIFE AND LOVE" EXHIBITION



ISTANBUL (A.A) - 05.01.2010 - Prints, paintings and drawings by renowned artist Marc Chagall are being displayed in Istanbul within the framework of "Life and Love" exhibition opened at Pera Museum. 
A total of 160 works by Chagall, one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, are currently on display at the exhibition which will stay open until January 24. 
As part of the exhibition, Academy award winner movie "Fiddler on the Roof" and a series of short films and documentaries on Chagall's life and career will also be screened between January 12-23, a statement from Pera Museum said on Tuesday. 
Marc Chagall was a Russian-French artist, born in Vitebsk, Russia in 1887, as a son of Hasidic Jewish parents and the eldest in a family of nine children.
As a pioneer of modernism and one of the greatest figurative artists of the 20th century, Chagall created some of the best-known paintings of our time over the course of his long career.
