HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City ’s authorities on January 5 paid tribute
to Abdurrahman Wahid, the former President of Indonesia, at the Indonesian Consulate
General in HCM City .
The former Indonesian president died in hospital on December 30 at the age of 69
after battling with illness for a long time.
The Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Council Huynh Thanh Lap expressed his
deepest condolences to the Indonesian State , its people and the late
president’s family over his death.
Lap said that HCM City ’s authorities and people honoured and praised the late
Indonesian president for his contributions to the friendship and cooperation between
Vietnam and Indonesia .
He added that the city will always treasure Vietnamese-Indonesian ties and will work
harder to promote the two countries’ traditional relationship.-Enditem
