YEMEN TO OPPOINT FIVE WOMEN IN LOCAL AUTHORITY POSITIONS

SANA'A, June 12 (Saba)- Local Administration Minister Abdul-Qader
Hilal revealed Wednesday a plan of appointing five women as deputies
and assistants deputy governor in the capital Sana'a and the
provinces of Aden, Ibb, Taiz, and Hodeidah.

Delivering a speech in the opening of a meeting of the Ministry's
women leaders, Hilal affirmed the importance of the meeting to
increase the political participation of Yemeni women.

Hilal pointed out that women's participation in the local rule and
listening to her viewpoints is an evidence on the awareness of the
political leadership over the importance of woman's role in the
society.

Hilal said that the local rule is a comprehensive system contain of
the political, economic, social and cultural structure aims at
developing the level of any people life.

For her part, deputy Minister for woman affairs Khadijah Radman said
the meeting seeks to achieve many goals topped by activating the
woman-run administrations in the local authority.

Radman highlighted the efforts have been done by the government to
create a real position for Yemen's women such as the Ministry's
decisions of appointing deputies and assistants deputy governor in 5
local positions.

It is worth mentioning, the two-day meeting was organized by the
Woman Sector in the Ministry and the project of Equaled
Opportunities and Woman Development of (GTZ).
