Searching of missing people
Aktau, January 07, 2010 (Khabar) - Search for people missing in a snow-covered steppe are continued in Mangistau region, Beyneu district. On Tuesday, about 19 millimeters of snow fell in Beineu district and temperature decreased, with wind speed reaching 15 meters per second. Despite a storm warning, three families, totally nine people went to Turysh and Nogaity villages at different time by cars. They didn’t reach the destination. In addition, two shepherds were considered to be missing. In the morning the rescuers found out five more people of Beineu are in steppe. Thus, the total number of missing people was sixteen.
On Wednesday helicopter flew from Aktau to search for the missing people. In the morning it became known that three men were found. Two men reached the nearest village Turysh by themselves. One more missing shepherd was found by rescuers. All of them feel satisfactory. There are seven residents Beineu in the list of missing now. They left last night in the village Turysh. A large-scale search operation involved 13 items of a highly technics and 40 people. The locals on horseback also look for missing citizens.
Kazhimurat Khairushev, head of Mangistau regional management on mobilization preparation, civil defense, organization of prevention and liquidation of accidents and natural disasters:
- We will continue the flights in all the directions till visibility allows us to do this. Because people could get lost at night and go farther than Turysh. And we will continue flying around Turysh. In case these people are not there, the helicopter will remain in Beineu to save time, and flight of searches will be continued again in the morning.
