MALAYSIAN PM WANTS YOUTHS TO CONTINUE TO STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Prime Minsiter wants youths in
the country to continue to have a high level of commitment not only for personal
success, but also for the growth of the country.

Najib Tun Razak said continuous efforts were also necessary to keep
youths motivated and tough in facing challenges and attaining higher levels of
success.

As such, he said, the government would continue to support youth movements
in producing successive generations of youths who were more successful.

"I am happy to note youth movements and the government are inseparable. They
are loyal friends and partners who are working closely with us (government) to
build a generation of youths who have strong character.

"The government will be there for you to ensure the success of youths in the
future," he said when launching an alumni of the Malaysian Youth Council (MBM)
and opening the council's 58th annual general meeting here Wednesday night.

Najib said although youths were regarded as an asset, it would not mean
anything if it could not be capitalised to make personal improvements despite
the infrastructures, systems and opportunities provided by the government.

"All these boil down to our courage. The courage to change, to seek and to
strive. These traits must be strengthened and instil among youths," he added.

Commending on the setting up of the MYC Alumni, he hoped it would stay
relevant and valuable as its members could still contribute to youth development
although they were above the youth age limit.

Najib, who was accompanied by his wife, Rosmah Mansor, was later
presented with an MYC special award.
