Iran had no role in delay of EU MPs’ visit to Tehran
TEHRAN, Jan. 7 (MNA) – Iran rejected reports that it has postponed a visit by a European Union parliamentary delegation to Tehran next week.
Opposition by Israel and certain European and American lawmakers is the reason behind the postponement of the visit, MP Kazem Jalali told reporters on Wednesday.
Foreign media outlets and the Zionist regime as well as certain European lawmakers have taken a stance against the visit, Jalali stated.
Even a number of U.S. parliamentarians had written a letter to the European lawmakers, asking to cancel the visit, he said.
Thus, the 11 members of the delegation felt less certain about the visit and eventually put the trip off, he added.
He went on to say that a few years have passed since Iran-Europe parliamentary committee has been established in the European Parliament.
The two sides decided last year that a European parliamentary delegation travel to Tehran following a visit by an Iranian delegation to Brussels, Jalali said.
He also noted that Iran’s parliament welcome ties with the European Parliament.
