PRESIDENT RECEIVES IRANIAN TECHNOLOGY MINISTER
Jakarta, June 12 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono received visiting Iranian Information Technology Minister Mohammad Soleimani at the presidential office here on Thursday.
"The Iranian minister is in Indonesia to attend a three-day meeting of the Indonesia-Iran Joint Commision," presidential spokesman Dino Patti Djalal said after accompanying the head of state in receiving Mohammad Soleimani.
Meanwhile, Soleimani said he met with President Yudhoyono to report the results of the tenth meeting of the Indonesia-Iran Joint Commission.
"In the meeting the two countries discussed various issues in their bilateral relations," Soleimani said.
He added that in the past two years the two countries had signed at least 17 cooperation agreements.
"It shows the two countries' special commitment to emhancing their bilateral relations," Soleimani said through an interpreter.
He added the discussions in the joint commission meeting were focused on the energy, oil, and tourism sectors.
Relations between Indonesia and Iran get stronger following reciprocal visits by the two countries' heads of government.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad visited Indonesia in 2005 and President Yudhoyono visited Iran in March this year.
The governments of the two countries also support each other in a number of international forums, especially in connection with Iran's nuclear program.
