NKorean leader continues inspection tour of industrial facilities

PYONGYANG, January 8 (Itar-Tass) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Il
continued his tour of industrial facilities on Thursday, reported the
Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the
Workers' Party of Korea.
Kim Jong Il visited the southern province of Hwanghae-bukto, to
personally inspect progress of the project to build a large hydroelectric
power plant. Prior to the inspection, the North Korean leader visited iron
ore mines in the district of Chaeryong of the neighboring Hwanghae namdo
region, inspected a electric power plant under construction in the
northern part of the country and a tank unit of the Korean people's army.
The Rodong Sinmun reports that despite the severe frost, Kim Jong Il
spent the whole day examining the construction site. "The workers have
accomplished a miracle, having implemented such a large project on their
own, in the condition of absolute shortage of materials," he said.
Local media outlets reported that the leader had issued instructions
to expedite the construction.
"At present, the party's call to attain the decisive breakthrough in
improving the conditions of people's life finds a response in people's
hearts," Kim Jong Il said after completing his inspection.
