VP CALLS ON KBPII TO HELP IMPROVE MEMBERS' SMARTNESS
Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara, June 12 (ANTARA)- Vice President Jusuf Kalla asked the Indonesian Muslim Students Association (KBPII) to help improve the smartness of its members so that they can solve any challenge in their lives.
Jusuf Kalla made the request here on Thursday when opening the 3rd national conference of KBPII which is scheduled to take place from June 12-15, 2008.
Kalla who is also chairman of KBPII'S advisory body, said KBPII as a non-political organization should maintain its independence.
However, KBPII board members had an obligation to encourage the younger generation, PPI members in particular, to improve their smartness to face challenges in their lives.
"KBPII board members should also set good examples in their behavior to the PII's younger generation and encourage them always work for progress," he said.
The vice president also urged the KBPII to keep in touch with all parties besides with state-owned companies.
Meanwhile, Ryaas Rasyid, chairman of the KBPII Executive Board, said in his report the 3rd KBPII national conference was held in Mataram to enable KBPII members to know more about the potentials of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province.
He said one of the points on the KBPII national conference's agenda was the election of a KBPII chairman for the 2008-2010 period.
