2010 to become special year for Russian school-Gryzlov.



MOSCOW, January 10 (Itar-Tass) - 2010 that has been announced
Teacher's Year in Russia will become a special year for the Russian
school, speaker of the State Duma lower house of parliament Boris Gryzlov
told reporters commenting on the key tasks of the Teacher's Year.

"Competence and responsibility, love for self-education - the
qualities characteristic of a professional - are raised at school and it
is the teacher that plays a key role in this process," Gryzlov noted.
According to him, it is important "not to just give a certain basic
knowledge set, but to develop in students curiosity and to teach them to
think." "It is also no less important to timely find talented children
capable of non-standard thinking and to support them," Gryzlov added.
"By the joint efforts we are to raise the authority of the teacher and
school," the leader of the United Russia faction in the Duma continued.
"This will be promoted by the implementation of a new educational strategy
initiated by the president," he said. This strategy envisages "the
development and introduction of educational standards of a new generation,
creation of the system of search for and support of talented children,
moral and material stimuli for teachers and for their professional skills
improvement," he said.
"The school is to seriously change and to become a real development
centre," Gryzlov forecasted. "The successful implementation of the new
strategy will allow us to bring up a new generation in the Russian school
that will be not only no worse, by even better that the current
generation," the State Duma head noted.
