ADFD to support agricultural project in Sudan
Abu Dhabi, Jun 13th, 2008 (WAM): In an effort to bring down the rising global food prices, Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has broke ground for a massive agricultural project it is implementing in Sudan.
Acting Director General of ADFD Mohammed Saif Al Suweidi said that the project is being set up as per the directives of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The 70000-feddan ambitious project in Nahr Al Neel state is being followed up by Minister of Presidential Affairs HH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who heads the Fund.
Abu Dhabi Fund for Development was established by directives of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan earlier in 1971 with the aim to provide assistance to the developing countries.
