KAMAZ major assembly line to accelerate after New Year vacation
KAZAN, January 11 (Itar-Tass) -- The major assembly line of the Kama
motor works (KAMAZ) will resume operation after the New Year vacation in
the accelerated mode on Monday, the director of the KAMAZ information
policy department, Oleg Afanasyev, told Itar-Tass.
"At the end of the previous year our enterprise has received major
orders from the Russian Defense Ministry. This is platform trucks, tow
cars, dump trucks and specialized vehicles of other versions. So, the
orders are enough to continue the operation of the major assembly line in
January and February 2010," Afanasyev said. According to him, the orders
are also coming from other Russian and foreign customers.
Under the business plan the Kama motor works intends to produce no
less than 28.2 thousand trucks in 2010. Some 26,000 trucks were sold in
2009.
The Russian largest carmaker KAMAZ is ranked eleventh among the
leading world heavy-duty truck suppliers and eighth for the diesel engine
output. The KAMAZ group of companies incorporates 96 enterprises, at which
