Campaign for honoring Second World War Veterans

Pavlodar, January 12, 2010 (Khabar) - “Ardagerlerdi Ardaktaiyk” campaign for hgonouring Second World War Veterans. Pavlodar has witnessed the beginning of a campaign devoted to the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Second World War. The largest political party in Kazakhstan, Nur Otan, acting as organizer of the event. Members of the Nur Otan Party, as well as members of the Youth Wing will take tuition from every veteran.

Maksim Plisov, active member of “Zhas Otan” youth movement:
- The veterans can tell us about events, which are not mentioned in the textbooks. For example today, in the Bukhar Zhyrau museum, one veteran told me that he fought as part of the 73rd guards division. I hadn’t even heard about this division. It was founded in Almaty and involved our fellow countrymen.

As part of the campaign, active members of the Pavlodar regional branch of the Nur Otan Party will visit every veteran and organize meetings and concerts for them.

Aigul Nurkina, deputy chairman, regional office of “Nur Otan” People’s Democratic Party:
- The campaign is aimed at rendering assistance to veterans and widows of World War II heroes, generating a feeling of gratitude for their services.

Pavlodar accommodates about 900 participants of World War II. In honour of the 65th anniversary of Victory, the Nur Otan Party has organized free subscription for newspapers and magazines for veterans. Moreover, they will be able to visit former battle sites.
