Man killed in strong blast in Makhachkala

Makhachkala, June 13 (Itar-Tass) -- An accidental pedestrian was
killed in a strong blast that went off at 6.40 a.m. Moscow time on Friday in downtown Makhachkala.

"The incident occurred on the Alley of Friendship, 150 meters away
from the building housing the city authorities," the press service of the city police department said.

The type and the yield of an explosive device have not been found out yet. The explosive device was planted in the bushes near the pathway. It went off at the moment when several people were jogging in the park. Zaur Abdulayev, 48, received severe fragmentation wounds. He died on the way to hospital. Bomb disposal experts are working at the scene.

According to the preliminary reports, the explosive device was made of a metallic pipe stuffed with the explosive mixture. Similar explosive devices were defused in Makhachkala, the capital of the Russian republic of Dagestan, in early May and early June.

The police do not rule out that a terrorist group is rampaging in
Makhachkala trying to destabilize the public and political situation in the city and the republic.
