Ukraine's government supports Russia's soonest entry in WTO
Kiev, June 13 (Itar-Tass) -- The Ukrainian government supports Russia' s soonest entry in the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Deputy Prime Minister for European and International Integration Grigory Nemyr told a press briefing on Thursday.
"The Ukrainian government holds the principal
position to assist in Russia's soonest accession in the WTO," Nemyr said.
In Nemyr's view, Russia's membership in this organisation, which is built on clear and transparent rules of the game, particularly in the settlement of the disputes, meets Ukraine's national interests. He
believes that the tapping of the potential, which exists not only in
Ukraine and Russia, but also in the whole region, will become more
promising after Russia's accession in the WTO.
The vice-premier noted that Ukraine was included in the working groups on the entry bids of 30 countries in the WTO and intends to apply its advantages from the WTO membership. He emphasized that Ukrainian representatives were included in the working groups on Iran, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Montenegro, Laos, Yemen and some other countries.
