Russia against attempts to politicize BSEC - Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW, December 10. /TASS/. Russia speaks against attempts to politicize the activities of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement distributed on Thursday ahead of the December 11 BSEC Council of Foreign Ministers. "The important condition for dynamic development of the Organization is preserving its non-politicized character that is shared by most BSEC member countries, including Russia," the document said. "We proceed from the fact that the Organization should deal with issues of economic development outlined in its statutory documents. We are categorically against any separate attempts to put political problems on BSEC agenda including settlement of territorial disputes and security issues that require other formats for being solved," the statement added. The BSEC Council of Foreign Ministers in Bucharest will be the final event in the framework of Romania’s presidency in the Organization. During the session, presidency will be passed to Russia for the next six months. Russia will present the program and concrete priorities of the Organization in January 2016. The Russian delegation to the BSEC Council of Foreign Ministers will be led by Deputy Foreign Minister Vasily Nebenzya. Read more
