Araqchi: Joint commission kicks off on Wednesday

Vienna, April 9, IRNA – Iran’s senior member of nuclear negotiating team Abbas Araqchi said the first session of Iran, Group 5+1 joint commission will be held on Wednesday to remove obstacles to fulfill Geneva agreement. Deputy Foreign Minister Araqchi, in a press conference here on Tuesday evening, after the first day of talks called “Vienna III” said that representatives from all bodies, which are involved in fulfillment of Geneva agreement, are now in Vienna to talk with experts of Group 5+1 to remove obstacles. Concerning bilateral meetings with the US officials, Araqchi said many of imposed sanctions against Iran are the US unilateral sanctions, so our discussion with the US officials is more serious. On the date and venue of the next round of talks, Araqchi said that the venue is Vienna and its date would be sometime around mid-May, but the exact date will be declared on Wednesday. He continued that Arak Research Reactor is one of important issues in our agenda, adding that we have accepted to remove concerns about the reactor and we are going to decrease the worries through update technologies. Araqchi stressed that we will discuss essentials on Wednesday and in the next round of talks on mid- May we discuss details and compile the final text of the agreement. Answering a question concerning enrichment in Iran, Araqchi said the most important obligation of other sides is accepting Iran’s nuclear rights, including enrichment, and the next commitment is to lift all sanctions. He added one of characters of the final agreement is to lift unilateral and multilateral sanctions as well as sanctions of the UN Security Council to achieve the final step. In another part of his remarks, Araqchi underlined that no other issues except Iran’s nuclear program are being discussed.
