Iran Culture Minister: Media not a tool for power but a power itself

Tehran, IRNA– Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili said here on Monday that media is not a tool for power, but it is a power itself. Esmaili made the remark in his speech at the 18th meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) General Assembly that kicked off in Tehran this morning. Media is a power that can serve the oppressed and the deprived people worldwide and can be their voice against the bullying powers, the minister underlined. Media can both safeguard the realities and uncover the lies. The 18th meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) General Assembly began in the Iranian capital on Monday with the participation of Managing Director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Ali Naderi and with a speech made by Esmaili.
