Iran Ready To Co-op With Leading Countries In Saline Water Desalination

Tehran, Oct 22, IRNA – Chairman of Iran Scientific and Industrial Research Organization says his organization is ready to cooperate with leading countries in the field of saline water desalination. Ahmad Akbari told IRNA on Wednesday that today the world as well as Iran is facing water shortage and water as the rarest resource in agriculture, drinking and industry enjoys high importance. He said the world is proceeding towards low water and drought situation and therefore water recycling has gained an outstanding importance in the world and Iran enjoys a relatively advanced technology in this regard. Akbari further remarked that water purification and its recycle for consumption and desalination of saline water (seas and oceans) and semi-saline (rivers and wells) has attracted the world attention, including Iran. He said countries suffering from water shortage are after finding solutions to the problem and one of the approaches that have been raised in the world in recent years is desalination of saline and semi-saline water. To this end, he added, an International Desalination Center has been established in Iran Scientific and Industrial Research Organization which has close cooperation with leading countries in this field. He referred to the opening of the 2nd International Desalination Conference which started on Monday and said it provided a proper opportunity for further interaction with leading countries in the field of desalination./end
