Papua Part Of Indonesia: Dutch Ambassador

Jayapura, Papua, July 4 (Antara) - Dutch ambassador to Indonesia Tjeerd De Zwaan said that Papua is an integral part of the Unitary State of Indonesia. "It is already clear that Papua is a legitimate part of Indonesia and we support it," he said here on Thursday. Regarding his current visit to the province, the ambassador said that he actually wished to know about the Special Autonomy Plus launched by Governor Lukas Enembe recently but during his meeting with a number of traditional, religious and women`s figures at the Papua Regional Police Headquarters on Wednesday leaders he had received no explanation or information about it. "Actually I hope I will get answers for my questions about it from people in the meeting (but failed). I think the Special Autonomy Plus has a bigger value than the previous program," he said. He said the essence of the meeting was about welfare and development, specifically in the field of education. "It seems it is all about development and in essence education development because education is important for developing as well as developed countries," he said. "We will give assistance in the field of education that will reach villages Focus will also be given to higher learning institute education," he said. Before the meeting Ambassador Tjeerd De Zwaan and his delegation met with Papua`s deputy governor Klemen Tinal and had asked about development efforts in Papua. On Wednesday he along with IOM (International Organization for Migration) chief Kim Denis met with the regional military commander, Major General Christian Zebua, and had asked about current development in the region. He had also met with the regional police command chief, Inspector General Tito Kurniawan. Through the meetings he wished to hear directly about Papua problems especially development progress in the country`s eastern province.
