Russia delivers airstrikes only on IS and its allies - Syrian ambassador

MOSCOW, October 1. /TASS/. Russian forces deliver airstrikes exclusively at positions of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, Syria’s Ambassador to Russia Riyad Haddad said on Thursday. "A Qaeda is in fact IS," Haddad said, commenting on media reports that Russian airstrikes could be aimed at targets other than IS positions. "Russian airstrikes are aimed at them [Islamic State] and other terrorist groups that support IS," he added. The ambassador said that the fight is waged against terrorists, "those who pursue the goals of terrorism and oppression," and not against the political opponents of Syrian authorities. Read more
