National Festival of Science and Technology Opens

Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- The 37th National Festival of Science and Technology opened in the DPRK.
The festival, held on the theme of "Attainment of 12 major goals, sci-tech guarantee for implementing Regional Development 20×10 Policy", is attended by more than 1 500 officials, scientists and technicians of commissions, ministries, national agencies and provinces (municipalities).
Presented to the festival, divided into metal, chemical, electric power, coal, machine-building, agricultural, light industrial and other panels, are sci-tech achievements made in the course of the struggle for development of the national economy and proposals conducive to the implementation of the Party's policy of regional-industry development through actual things, models and working exhibits.
During the festival there will be a presentation of sci-tech achievements, a seminar, exchange service for new technical products and other sci-tech exchanges.
An opening ceremony took place at the Sci-Tech Complex on April 26.
Present there were Jon Sung Guk, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Choe Tong Myong, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Sung Jin, president of the State Academy of Sciences, Kim Sung Du, minister of Education, officials concerned and working people.
Ri Chung Gil, chairman of the State Commission of Science and Technology, made an opening address. -0-
