The Mongolian script is a unique script which is vertically and clockwise written from the top to bottom. This script has been used many years ago, and it is considered that it was created in the 6th century.
Since its creation, the Mongolian script's alphabet has not been changed until today, but the difference between the script and its speaking language has deepened.
Throughout history, the Mongols have invented and used over twenty types of scripts. But, the Mongolian scripts is still used, overcoming thousands years and gaining a big history, and it is considered as one of the few scripts in the world in terms of age and originality of alphabet. Unfortunately, Mongolian script got out of use some times, but it managed to be revived now, conforming that this piece of culture has been created perfectly.
Mongolian script was created specifically for the Mongolian language and for moving of fingers that makes the writing easier and quicker. Also it expresses intelligence characteristics of Mongolia people.
Mongolian script has plenty of symbolic means, and its images of the alphabet present cultural advantages of the Mongolian nomads. Furthermore, the calligraphy of Mongolian script is being greatly developed today in several artistic directions such as symbolism, realism and naturalism.
It is assumed that the oldest piece of Mongolian calligraphy was created in 1225, and this piece which is called “Chingis Stone” is reserved in the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Mongolians have big history of calligraphy. From many years ago, Mongolians have used the Mongolian script calligraphy for decorations of temples' and monasteries' addresses and walls. There are many Mongolian calligraphists to propagandize the piece of art around the world. For example, Mr Batbayar is one of the creative artists for Mongolian calligraphy who plays a main role in developing the unique cultural heritage and inheriting it to the next generation. He is considered as one of the figures who significantly contributed to developing the classical art of Mongolian script calligraphy.

Calligraphist and research D.Batbayar:
-“I think the most right and interesting method of spreading Mongolian script is to propagandize it by arts.It is possible that Mongolian calligraphy could be widespread if we develop it through poetry and calligraphy. Another feature of Mongolian script is allowing for writing very quickly and compact.Even the compact writing of Mongolian script is well understandable, so it might be the highest version of stenography,”

It says that Mongolian script and its art of calligraphy bears a charm of gladdening the eye and heart. Unique images of the calligraphy present live things and also make people seemed like music. So, nowadays, many foreigners come to Mongolia to learn and study the Mongolian calligraphy, and calligraphy collectors come to the country as well. I have a big intention to inherit the Mongolian calligraphy art to contemporary Mongolians.
