3,333 students from the Oyunii Undraa Complex School of Ulaanbaatar have simultaneously recited the poem called “Independence” by the People’s Poet Dendeviin Purevdorj at the central square of Mongolia.
This is, reportedly, one of the 20 creative events, which had been planned to take place dedicated to the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the school. Passers-by were quite impressed and drawn by the performance of children, who were melodiously reading the poem loudly while proudly showing off their traditional costumes. Director of the school Mr S.Nerguidavaa handed over the Cup, which was made to be passed to the next schools to organize the same event, to a Deputy Head of the Municipal Department of Education Ms Ts.Otgonchimeg.
“The Independence poem was read in secret during the closed [socialist] times. We talk about big things when we talk about independence. To simply explain this big concept to children, independence means the ability to remember the true history, to create growth for today and to dream big and positive for the future. It is, therefore, essential to understand the value of independence, first of all” said Mr S.Nerguidavaa on the choice of the poem.
